What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is to be able to see students truly engaged in and excited about learning. I also enjoy working with a team of educators to solve complex issues.

What important message do you want all your students to know?

I want students to know that if they work hard and set goals, there is no limit to what they can achieve.

What do you do to make your school a safe and caring environment?

I help make Palomino Primary safe through careful planning, training, and teamwork. All adults at Palomino Primary work together to teach students to be caring and safe through our Strive for Five Positive Behavior Program. Students learn to Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Kind, Be Responsible, and Be Ready to Learn. These rules are taught in the classroom and through the rest of our school during our Passport day. Positive student behavior is recognized through Palomino Pride awards. In addition, students learn positive social skills through our Second Step program.  Palomino Primary has a Behavior Team that meets often to review overall school trends as well as individual students who may need additional support. Finally, both Palomino Primary and Palomino Intermediate Behavior Teams meet in the School Safety Assessment and Prevention Team, along with our School Resource Officer, to discuss overall campus trends with the goals of prevention and emergency response preparation.

If you had a message for your parents, what would it be?

Participate as much as you can in your child’s education. Ask your child how his/her day was and look in their backpack. Read with your children every day and do not hesitate to call your child’s teacher if you have a question. Ask your child’s teacher for volunteer opportunities and come to our reading and math nights.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is getting to celebrate the achievements of all students. I love being able to watch students set goals for their learning and support them on their journey to success.

What important message do you want all your students to know?

I think it is important for all my students to know that I am here to listen and support them. No matter the problem, I want to work with you and encourage you to be the best you can be.

What do you do to make your school a safe and caring environment?

To help show that our school cares, I plan to take time to get to know students. I plan to be out on the playground during recess times and encourage students to Strive for 5. I will participate in trainings and team meetings to continue to keep the school grounds safe.

If you had a message for your parents what would it be?

My message to parents is to be involved. Ask your students about their day at school, read all school communication, and look in your student's backpack each night. Reading is an important part of your student's learning experience. Take time at home to read. Lastly, find out ways you can get involved in the school. Classrooms are always looking for volunteers and there are many family nights throughout the year that can be attended.
