Pre-K Programs

Age Guidelines: 4 years old by August 31st of the relevant school year.

Program Description: Title I Preschool is a federally funded program that provides instruction for students who demonstrate educational need. This program is provided at no cost to students who qualify (assessment required).

Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m./9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (full day) site specific

Locations: Cactus View, Campo Bello, Echo Mountain Primary, Indian Bend, and Palomino Primary

Southwest Human Development offers free home visiting and classroom-based Early Head Start and Head Start programs designed for income-eligible families and their children, ages birth to 5 years old, who live in the PVSchools attendance area. These programs provide high-quality education, health, nutrition, social services, and parent engagement opportunities. Programs are also available for pregnant mothers and special services are provided for children with disabilities who qualify.

Part-day classroom options are available Monday through Friday at all sites. For families who are working or attending school, a full-day option is available for children at the Palomino Primary location only.

Serving Unique Needs (SUN) Kids Preschool provides special education services for 3-to-5-year-old students with special or unique needs and who are not yet eligible for kindergarten. All students must be screened prior to placement in the program. Screening appointments are available year-round. The SUN Kids program only accepts preschoolers from inside the district boundary and is not eligible for open enrollment.

Children with needs identified in the following areas may be eligible:

• Communication
• Cognitive
• Motor Skills
• Adaptive Behavior
• Social/Emotional Skills

Preschool students who are developing at an expected rate are also accepted as peer models (Peer Pals) and pay tuition of $130 per month. Peer Pals must have the ability to be strong language and behavior models for our students with special or unique needs.

Half-day sessions (a.m. and p.m.) meet Monday through Thursday.
